Twilight Legend: When the Wolf Imprints

For those who have read the best selling Twilight series by Stefanie Meyer are familiar with the Quileute legend of when the wolf imprints. For those who are not familiar with the legend, it is actually very romantic and not unlike what most of us as humans would hope and wish for. The legend is when the wolf sees that one he is meant to be with his whole world stops and she becomes his everything. Nothing else matters except for her and making her happy. Here is a look at how this is very similar to that which we experience as humans.

According to the Quileute legend as the wolf imprints, the experience is very similar to that of a human finding their soul mate. There are a few notable differences however. One is that once becomes a wolf he basically stops aging. This means he can imprint on one of any age. When this occurs the imprinting is not romantic in nature. It just means he has found someone whose happiness comes before anyone else’s. He becomes her friend, big brother and eventually when she is of age, her other half. There is no one else he would consider and he will spend the rest of his life ensuring she is happy.

As humans we may not necessarily work the same way but as people we can relate to this legend in many different ways. The first being that we are in a way always waiting for that special “one”. This “one” is of course the one who completes us and the one that we are meant to be with. The majority of people are waiting for the one that they feel that strongly for. They want to meet someone to share the rest of their life with and try to ensure that they are happy and taken care of.

The next way that we can relate to this message is the hope of a love at first sight. In the legend when the wolf sees her everything just stops. How many times have we as people hoped and wished for that. To glance across the room, look into someone’s eyes and feel as though the whole world has quit turning. While there will always be skeptics, there are still some of us who believe there can be that love at first sight.

Lastly we want to relate to the legend that there is just that one special person for us in the world that no one else could compare with. In today’s world with so much going on people tend to forget to work at their relationships with the results usually being the relationships ending. Instead of waiting for Mr. or Miss Right we start to settle for Mr. or Miss Right Now instead of being the one we are really meant to be with.

We could all take a lesson or two from this beautiful Quileute legend of the wolf imprinting. Instead of just settling for what seems right for the moment, we could take a step back and learn to wait for that one that makes us feel as though there is no one else in the world, and when we do find that special person, spend the rest of our lives trying to make sure that they are happy and have everything they want and need. We may find as people we could be happier and have better, healthier relationships that actually last forever.
