If you have not already been swept up in the “Twilight” books by author Stephanie Meyer, here is some information on this talented author and the series of books that has changed the world and reading for everyone.

Twilight author Stephanie Meyer
Besides being a best-selling author, Stephanie Meyer is a mom to three sons of her own. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in English. After graduation she married and had her three young sons. Before the success of her “Twilight” books Stephanie Meyer was a stay at home mom. One day she could not shake the memory of the dream she had had the night before about a series of characters that felt so real to her. While she tried her hardest to get this dream out of her thoughts by busying herself with every day activities she finally gave in and began to write at her computer. Stephanie would find herself coming up with the plot while she cleaned her house or was raising her young sons. After three months of writing she had finished her first book in this hit series and she titled it “Twilight”.
While there are truly many reasons one could say that “Twilight” appealed to the teenagers one must really credit Meyer’s ability to really step back into that “teenage” mode with all the emotions one feels during those years. While Edward may have been 17 for a very long time, he is still like a typical teenage boy in his feelings for Bella. Stephanie Meyer was also able to demonstrate many situations that teens face such as the love triangle Bella appears to have between herself, Jacob and Edward. Many teens find themselves confused over feelings for people they considered to be just their friends. Combine this intuitiveness Stephanie Meyers has plus all the appeal that comes from the supernatural and you have the charm of “Twilight”. Many adults also find themselves lulled into the sweet innocence of Edward and Bella plus the intriguing plot that is intertwined throughout the books. Besides being a sweet love story Stephanie Meyers adds some great action with your typical hero/villain scenario. Last but definitely not least, these books have become so successful amongst teenagers and adults alike because Meyer’s love for her characters really shows through in her writing. You find yourself wanting to go shopping with Alice or head out for a ride with Jacob. She makes them realistic and likable. Unlike other books where you feel as though you have nothing in common with the characters Meyers was able to create characters that people can relate to.
The first two books in this best selling series are “Twilight” followed by “New Moon”. “Twilight” introduces you to young Bella who is moving to go live with her dad to give her mom and new husband some needed freedom. Here you are introduced to the Cullens, a mysterious family that tends to keep to themselves. You are also introduced to Jacob, a character who becomes Bella’s best friend. In “Twilight” you learn about the good vampires who are considered the “vegetarians” of their kind and the different vampires who are not so picky about what or who they eat.
In “New Moon” the story opens up to a very confused Edward and sad Bella. “New Moon” really focuses in Bella and Jacob as well as their friendship and who Jacob really is. You become enthralled with the intensity of Jacob and his friends and see just how far he goes in his loyalty to Bella. You are also introduced to the Volturi, a very unique band of vampires.
Much like some other authors who cater to fiction for young adults, these books have come to change the world of reading for both young and old alike.
